Michael “ARTY!” Arthurholtz was born and raised amidst the glitz, glamour, and clanking casinos of beautiful Las Vegas, and has been on a mission to promote the arts in his native city since founding Art Renegades in 2001.
Heavily influenced by traditional Japanese horimono (tattoo) imagery, and the Ukiyo-e style woodblock prints and watercolors of the Edo period, ARTY!’s work is inspired by the juxtaposition of the themes of triumph and tragedy, the simultaneous strength and frailty of the human spirit, and the beauty that results.
ARTY! is fascinated with anatomy, antique books and medical texts, old movies, vintage cars, anything with feathered wings – and wishes he could fly.
